LEGAL Q&A

Question: Your book is clear: A handgun can be kept in a vehicle in a snapped holster--anywhere--loaded or unloaded. This includes atop the dashboard, hanging from the mirror or hook. Your book (per some readers) implies that even prudence is not a consideration. Can you comment?

Answer: Prudence is always a consideration -- because otherwise some officer who didn't read my book will probably arrest you. I never recommend taking the law literally, even if you are right, because sometimes that means you spend time in jail and spend big money on a lawyer, in order to prove your point. That's not the way to do it, and there are much easier and better ways. On the other hand, the law is the law -- assuming the judge and prosecutor also know what the heck is going on.
