LEGAL Q&A
Question: Can I purchase any of the firearms or ammo clips that were previously banned under 18 USC 922(u) and (v)?
Answer: The "Assault Weapons Ban" passed by the Clinton administration and Congress in 1994 went out of existence on 9/13/04. You may purchase and possess any of these firearms, as well as any size clip or drum so long as you are not a "prohibited person". This even applies to those marked "for law enforcement use only". However, you still cannot possess NFA weapons, and you still can't modify many semi-autos from imported parts. See pages 152-156 of the book (5th Edition).
