LEGAL Q&A

Question: I have a Florida concealed weapons permit . I am a 22 year-old who is just going back to college. I’ve been asking around about the legality of just having my gun locked inside my car while on the campus. I’ve been told by everyone that it is illegal to even have the firearm locked in your car . The thing is, I will only be attending the school part time. After that I will be going back to my store, and will be there till way after dark. So with my late hours and handling the cash from my business, plus the commute down I-95 during bike week and all else, I’d like to have the gun available to me during my commute and I hate to just keep a gun locked in my safe at the store. Is it truly illegal to have a handgun locked in your car parked at a university lot even if you have a permit?

Answer: Page 122 of the book discusses this in detail -- and due to the complexity, I think you need to read it, otherwise I'd just quote it.
